In yet another shake yup over at Lucasfilm, Colin Trevorrow has been let go as director of the upcoming Star Wars Episode IX. Here is the official statement from Lucasfilm:
“Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process, but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”
The writing was on the wall for Trevorrow, who was already replaced as a writer on the film. This all likely stemmed from the harsh reviews of Trevorrow’s film The Book of Henry.
Star Wars Episode IX is scheduled for a May 24, 2019 release, though no replacement director has been announced yet.
