So now they are going to remake another John Carpenter classic, Big Trouble in Little China and the word is that Dwayne Johnson is set to take on the role of Jack Burton, originally played by the iconic Kurt Russel. Johnson is not only set to star but also produce the remake. The Wrap got the scoop recently on Johnson’s involvement in the project. No director is attached at this point but it does have it’s writers, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz of Thor and X Men: First Class. Twentieth Century Fox is footing the bill and hasn’t given any word on the projects development (fingers crossed this one gets trapped in development).
It’s nice to see this box office stud looking to make a great movie, but well it was already made and done to perfection, so the real question is why? There are plenty of solid ideas from the 80’s that didn’t translate into good films, so how about start from there? Howard the Duck anyone??? Now that’s a role The Rock can bring the Smacketh Down to. It’s only a few DNA strands away from the Tooth Fairy. Just leave Master Carpenter alone you filthy butchers.
Oh and for added fun check out the time Heller pissed off Lo Pan:
