The third film in the Jumanji franchise has Spencer (Alex Wolff), who has kept the pieces of the Jumanji video game, working to repair the system in the basement of his grandfather’s house. When his friends Fridge (Ser’Darius Blain), Bethany (Madison Iseman) and Martha (Morgan Turner) arrive, they find him missing and the game running, and decide to re-enter Jumanji to save him. Spencer’s grandfather, Eddie (Danny DeVito), and his friend, Milo Walker (Danny Glover), hear the commotion, and inadvertently get sucked into the game too. The teenage friends must help Eddie and Milo get used to their in-game avatars and get their help to find Spencer and escape Jumanji again.
Karen Gillan will once again be portraying the avatar for Martha, though his time around, Jack Black will be portraying the avatar for Fridge (taking the reins from Kevin Hart in the last film), with Dwayne Johnson and Hart portraying the avatars for Devito and Glover, respectively. The trailer or IMDB, (at the time of this post) do not indicate who will be stepping in to play Spencer or Bethany’s avatars, nor does it indicate who Nick Jonas will be playing.
The wildly successful Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a very enjoyable movie, and if this is half as good as that was, I think we’ll have a pretty solid film on our hands.
Jumanji: The Next Level opens December 13, 2019.
