A couple of months after Netflix announced that they had acquired the rights to legendary filmmaker Orson Welles’ unfinished final film, The Other Side of the Wind, the streaming service has announced they will air a new documentary on the late director from Oscar winner Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom). The film will focus on the last fifteen years of Welles’ life and his complicated relationship with Hollywood.
The Other Side of the Wind, which will be a focus of the documentary, is currently being restored, which is being overseen by Frank Marshall, who worked with Welles as a production manager on the film. The film began production in 1970 and continued sporadically filming through 1976, but was never finished. Welles died in 1985.
Both The Other Side of the Wind and the accompanying documentary will be released in 2018.
