Prior to its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last year, Grace of Monaco, a movie starring Nicole Kidman as actress Grace Kelly, was rumored to be a contender at the Academy Awards. That all changed after people actually saw the film. After some not so stellar reviews, and some bad press about a feud between Harvey Weinstein and the film’s director, Olivier Dahan, it was decided not to put the film in theaters, but rather directly on to the Lifetime Network. The trailer definitely has a Lifetime Movie vibe to it, so this may actually be a good move for the studio. The scale as far as what is considered a “good” movie is considerably lower for basic cable, so this could do very well
The movie, also starring Tim Roth, Frank Langella, Parker Posey and Paz Vega, will premiere on Lifetime on May 25th.
